Bring your items along for repair — this could include bike repairs, clothing, textiles, and general household items.
Located in St Pauls Church, Heaton Moor Rd, the repair café will be open 10.00–12.00 on the third Saturday of every month.
The aims of the repair café are to:
– Prevent everyday items from going to waste and reducing the environmental impact of manufacturing new items
– Encourage learning and sharing of skills in a social setting, maintain repair expertise and to spread this knowledge
Our volunteers have specific skills that they would like to share with the local community. These skills include sewing, furniture/wood repair skills, bike repairs, repairs to garden tools and small electrical items.
The repairs are free although donations are welcome to help build the stock of tools and materials. Heatons Men in Sheds will be on hand to repair small items of furniture, hinges, loose handles and sharpen garden tools. In addition, a number of locals have volunteered to repair clothing, such as split seams in a jacket, missing hooks on waistbands and zip repairs.
We also have a keen cyclist who can repair punctures, chains that have come off, show you how to tighten brake cables and more.
We look forward to seeing you there! If you want to get more involved contact us at info@slheatons.org
