Community Planting Brings Spring Success

Our Autumn 2025 planting programme marked another successful step in our ongoing biodiversity projects. Volunteers, residents, and the local school eco club came together to improve our green spaces by planting spring bulbs designed to support pollinators and enhance our green spaces in Thornfield Park and Heaton Mersey Common.

The results seen this spring have been very encouraging, although sadly not all the bulbs took hold due to some bad weather.  Many of the bulbs came up nicely, particularly across Thornfield Park, which looked very colourful this spring. Some areas flourished and provided valuable food sources for bees and other pollinating insects.

The success of this most recent planting project builds on our earlier planting projects including on Briars Mount, where the daffodils and crocus are thriving and naturalising very well and are a welcome splash of colour.
