The original village garden is opposite the row of shops that includes Golden Days chip shop and the Heaton Mersey clinic. It is a traditional flower garden but with the added interest of raised herb and vegetable beds.

The story of the Heaton Mersey Village Garden began in 2018 when a small group of volunteers started clearing a neglected patch of scrub next to the hall of the 1st Heaton Vale Sea Scouts (opposite the Heaton Mersey Clinic).
We planted flowers the following year and also created a raised herb bed and two small raised vegetable beds. Hover over the images to view a description.
And the story did not stop there: We have been extending the original garden westwards along Didsbury Road to the junction of Didsbury Road and Station Road. It is a big job for our small group of volunteers so we are always delighted to welcome new recruits with all levels of ability.
You can find the Heaton Mersey Village gardeners on site at 10:30am on the second Sunday of every month, and on the fourth Tuesday of the month from March to October.
